With more than 20 years of experience, Kiki Moka is Indonesia’s first World Class representative and Jakarta bar veteran. In 2008, he started his career as a bartender at LOEWY, a classic bar and bistro in Oakwood Premier Cozmo, Jakarta. Kiki also created his first original cocktail recipe, the Cotton Candy Cosmopolitan, at LOEWY.

Throughout his career, Kiki has proven his skill in bartending and mixology and was chosen as Indonesia’s representative at the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year competition in 2011. Kiki has been working as a bartender and a stakeholder at The Cocktail Club since late 2021.

Hi! Please tell us a little about yourself and your daily

activities.
Hi, I’m Kiki Moka, the Head Mixologist for Union Group Jakarta. My day-to-day activities include running The Cocktail Club Jakarta in Senopati. 

 How would you describe your food preferences?
Asian Local food is my favorite dish. 

 Which restaurants have you visited recently and managed to impress you? 
I didn’t discover a new favorite restaurant recently, but one of my recent dishes was my hometown food and my mother-in-law’s cooking. Both have always been my favorite. 

 Do you have a regular place where you always hang out with friends or for a special occasion with your family? 
Korean and Japanese hotpot or barbeque. 

What’s your favorite classic drink?
Paloma, dry martini and negroni

Is there a food you’d like to try but haven’t? 
Greek food

What is the most unique drink concoction you have ever tried? 
Vodka Homemade Campari with Carmine (an insect that is usually used as a red coloring for lipstick cosmetics)

What’s your favorite local dish, and where do you go to eat it? 
My hometown dish! Nasi campur, Coto Makassar and Pallubasa at Pasar Senen and Marannu in Dewi Sartika. 

Are there foods you can eat every day without getting bored? 
Beef Rib Soup (Sop Iga) and Black ink Squid with Stinky Bean 

 After a busy day, what drink do you choose for a relaxing time? And why did you choose that drink? 
Highball or Tequila shot, it’s easy and refreshing. 

What things usually attract you to visit a place to eat?
When they have a unique twist on a classic dish or East Indonesian-style food. East Indonesian dishes are my favorite; I like food from Makassar, Manado, Ambon, and Papua. 

What are your signature cocktails? 
A lot, hahaha. But so far, my favorite is the Mango Curry.

 Do you have any favorite local spirits? 
Palm Sap Spirit; Arak and Sopi.

 What is your go-to recipe for a quick and easy drink at home? 
Highball is an effortless drink to make. You only need a spirit of your choice, a soft drink – a Tonic or Soda, and complete it with a twist of fresh lime. 

 What drink would you recommend if people want to go to the Cocktail Club? 
It will depend on the guest’s mood. They can choose if they want something fresh, dry, fruity, or a more straightforward cocktail.
