Julius Ryan Karsten, better known as J Ryan, is a renowned model, content creator, and host. When he’s not busy creating content, J Ryan is the proud owner of KARS Granola – a business he created to provide healthy snacks that are both delicious and nutritious. On top of his work and sports hobbies, J Ryan also loves to travel and experience new culinary delights. J Ryan shares his favorite restaurants and what to get.

Hi! Please tell us a bit about yourself and your day-to-day activities.
I work as a content creator, host, and model. I’m also running my own business, KARS Granola, specializing in healthy snacks. I also like to exercise regularly, whether it’s at the gym, playing badminton, or playing soccer. 

 

What usually attracts you to visit a place to eat?
I am usually attracted to dining places that my friend recommended. Or if it’s a hyped-up place with a good ambiance and delicious food. 

What is the most unforgettable food experience you have ever had?
I love Namaaz Dining because they present all their dishes in different, unique ways, giving an exciting dining experience. 

What do you look for in street food?
Authenticity and good price. 

Is there any food you can eat every day without getting bored?
Korean BBQ. 

What are your favorite local dishes, and where do you go to eat them?
I like most local dishes, but personally, Pondok Kemangi in Alam Sutera is an excellent place for family occasions. My favorites are Sop Gurame Asam Pedas, Tempe Mendoan, and Otak-Otak. 

What is your favorite type of cuisine?
I love the most type of meat dishes, whether it’s Korean BBQ, Japanese grill, or Steak. 

Where do you usually go to hang out with friends or for special occasions with family?
I usually go to Japanese or Korean BBQ restaurants with friends. For family time, we typically go to Indonesian restaurants. 

Where are your top three dining places always on your favorite list?
Gyu-kaku, Butler’s Steak, and Pondok Kemangi

What is your go-to comfort food, and where do you usually get them?
My go-to comfort food will always be homemade cooking, especially fishball soup. 

What are the top three dining places you have been to in 2022?
Butler’s Steak, Sale Ristorante BSD, Nonna Bona
