While February 14th marks the official celebration of Valentine’s Day, who is to say that the expression of love should be reserved for just one day? Instead of reserving love for just one day, I believe in celebrating love throughout February. And what better way to commemorate a special moment than with a sumptuous feast? The Singleton featuring the Grumpy Chef, Sabrina Alatas, celebrate the moment with an intimate dining affair through “The Singleton Social.”
Hailing from Jakarta, Sabrina honed her culinary prowess in the gastronomic capital of Paris, where she spent two years working in prestigious Michelin-starred kitchens. With her consistent commitment to creating intimate and engaging dining experiences, Sabrina Alatas has cultivated a devoted following.
“Singleton whisky boasts a nutty, malty flavor with hints of fresh fruit aromas. Its versatility allows it to complement all five dishes perfectly,” remarked Chef Sabrina
Laughter and lively chatter filled the air as guests gathered at Glou, South Jakarta, for the evening’s festivities. Against the backdrop of upbeat tunes spun by the DJ, the ambiance was electric. The five-course dinner featured a specially curated menu prepared by Chef Sabrina for the occasion. “We began with a tasting of both the whisky and its paired dish, ensuring that the whisky’s flavor profiles complemented each dish perfectly,” shared Chef Sabrina.
The Singleton believes that single malts should be enjoyable for the many, not just the few. Through The Singleton Social, The Singleton invites people to discover more enjoyment and pleasure from life, every day. From moments with friends to occasions with food, drinks and other effortless enjoyment, The Singleton adds an easy and interesting twists of deliciousness to elevate the moment.
The intimate dinner commenced with a vibrant Sea Bass Crudo adorned with Manalagi Mango, pickled beets, shallots, coconut dressing, and shiso oil. This was followed by the Zucchini Flower Tempura paired with Kalle’s caviar cream and sweet paprika. The intrigue continued with the Stuffed Cabbage, filled with a delectable chicken and prawn farce, accompanied by yogurt.
“Of all the pairings, I believe the standout was my striploin and cigarette liver parfait dish, perfectly complemented by ‘The Bobby Diary’ cocktail crafted with Singleton Glen Ord 12 yo, vermouth, Dom Benedictine, and lemon peel,” remarked Sabrina.
The highlight was the US Prime Striploin served with liver parfait and sauce périgueux. Lastly, to conclude the feast, a refreshing Green Apple Granita, basil ganache, and burnt meringue provided a delightful finish.
As we savored our final bites, the atmosphere around us buzzed with life. The clinking of glasses and the upbeat tunes from the DJ set the scene for an unforgettable evening. The Singleton Social event was more than just a gathering; it was a vibrant celebration of community and shared experiences. With its exclusive partnerships with top dining spots across the city, each offering a blend of mouthwatering dishes and premium whisky, The Singleton Social embodied the spirit of good food, fine drinks, and genuine connections.
