The inauguration was also attended by Mr. Sandiaga Uno as the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia virtually, and the presence of Mrs. Ni Made Ayu Marthini as the Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.
“We chose Malaysia as our first global expansion destination because of Malaysians’ love for food, the steady development of the coffee culture, and the many similarities Malaysians have in common with Indonesians. Including taste and desire to try new things,” explained Edward Tirtanata, CEO and Co-Founder of Kopi Kenangan.
Edward deemed that the projection of the F&B sector in Malaysia is also promising because Malaysia is currently transforming in implementing a high-income digital economy with the main focus on digitalization which is also in line with Kopi Kenangan’s business concept.
“We want to apply Kopi Kenangan’s successful grab-and-go coffee business model in Indonesia to overseas markets, starting with Malaysia. Our goal in establishing Kopi Kenangan is to introduce quality Indonesian coffee at an affordable price and accessible to everyone. We are thrilled to be able to share the taste of Indonesian coffee with Malaysians,” he continued.
“Kopi Kenangan will operate under Kenangan Coffee as an international brand outside Indonesia. We use the name Kenangan Coffee because we want to focus on the keyword ‘memories.’ We serve every customer who comes to the store as a friend, and we hope every cup of coffee we make can leave good memories,” said James Prananto, Chief Business Development and Co-Founder of Kopi Kenangan.
James explained that their goal is to become the coffee brand consumers most love in Southeast Asia, and Malaysia is their first step in achieving Kopi Kenangan’s mission.
