Creative restaurant concept Locavore has launched its new and final menu for the coming season – an ‘exhibition menu’ of their favorite fifty dishes from nine years of Locavore history.
Artefacts: A History of Locavore In Fifty Edible Ideas invites you to join them in a celebration of their top culinary memories. With three menus being released over the next few months, each of their best edible creations will be revived in the kitchen one last time – and preserved for prosperity with inspired artworks by local creatives.
Guests will dig into a unique ensemble of Locavore’s greatest treasures while immersed in a curated display of each dish’s artistic representation as their Ubud restaurant is transformed into a unique dining exhibition experience.
The stories behind the fifty dishes chosen by the Locavore team are told throughout the four-course tasting experience, including Black rice blini, smoked egg emulsion, and crispy puffed black rice.
“Probably the most popular snack in Locavore history – and one of our kitchen’s most interesting creative challenges. Blini and caviar reimagined using only local Indonesian ingredients was no mean feat.”
Others are; Into the Sawah (heritage galuh rice from Tegalalang Central Bali, rice field snails, and garlic, 64 degrees duck egg, frog leg abon, fern tip powder), Raw lamb (Kari kambing shio koji, crispy aromatics, sawah
leaves, warm lamb fat vinaigrette), and Bayam Tempura (Amaranth leaf tempura, bumbu Bali powder).
Meanwhile, the corresponding artworks range from paintings, ceramics, and found objects to AR and digital concepts. All are produced as one-of-a-kind pieces or in limited editions and are available to purchase.
Locavore has been Indonesia’s only restaurant to be ranked in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 5 years in a row, with their highest ranking being #21 in all of Asia. They have also previously been awarded the Most Sustainable Restaurant Award by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
