Manarai Beach House — Where Endless Excitement Meets Excellent Eats

Manarai Beach House combines the best food, drinks and entertainment in Nusa Dua.

IT IS NO SECRET and love the tranquillity of the Nusa Dua area, where tourists mostly go to get in touch with the more peaceful side of Bali and to experience the comfortable luxury of some of the island’s most prestigious properties. Now, one would normally not look for a beach club in the above-described area, but since mid this year, this is no longer the case.

Manarai Beach House is located on the beachfront setting of Sofitel Nusa Dua. On my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised to discover such a chill beach club amidst the well-groomed (and sometimes too uptight) area of BTDC. In addition to a warm and welcoming atmosphere that provides a welcome addition to its luxury hospitality surroundings, Manarai Beach House’s attentive service and impeccable F&B offering easily sets the standard for future beach clubs in and around the area.

Credit goes to Chef Stefan Poyet and his culinary team for creating an excellent menu of progressive international favorites with a local touch, and the team of mixologist for an authentic selection of locally-inspired cocktails that completes the Manarai Beach House experience.

There are only so many recommended dishes this humble writer can recommend in one write-up, but one of the items you absolutely must try include the Sugar Daddy Cheeseburger, which buns together crispy onion, delicious cheddar, truffle mushrooms, and one of the juiciest putties I’ve ever had the pleasure of sinking my teeth in. Another must-try is the Sweet Soy Glazed Premium Pork Ribs, especially for those looking to experience a traditional Balinese recipe served with a modern fresh presentation.

In addition to a plethora of refreshing non-alcoholic beverages, Manarai Beach House’s drinks menu offers a vast variety of wines, spirits, and signature cocktails. If you’re lounging in one of the spacious daybeds by the beachside infinity pool overlooking the waves, a glass of Twisted Tiki will get you spiced up with its mix of bourbon, homemade mango rooibos, laksa cordial and bitters. If you’re arriving after the sun goes down with that special someone, try the Jamaican Me Horney to smooth things along, because the rum anejo and Jamaican rum stirred with Couintreau, pineapple, honey and bitters will definitely please.

Manarai has an outer pool merely steps away from the sandy shores surrounded by cozy daybeds and a generous bar area serving refreshing cocktails and spirits. Further inside bordering the inner pool is a cute sofa-and-table row which exudes classic romanticism after sunset. The inner pool itself is ringed by generous cabanas and more daybeds, with a bigger bar along the path leading to the dining area.

Those who prefer to enjoy their food and drinks in comfortable temperature would really appreciate the fact that the restaurant, while open-aired, is fully air-conditioned. As you enter you’ll see inviting tables and sofas beckoning you to sit down and order some of the more serious food offerings, while to your left are a generously sized wine cellar housing a carefully curated selection of both Old and New World wines.

Here is a destination that successfully combines world-class cuisine and beverages with buzzing entertainment worthy of Bali’s famous chill island vibe. With an opening party that featured elrow, a Barcelona-brand organizer known for super vibrant, passionate parties around the globe, ISMAYA launched Manarai Beach House with a bang back in August and changed the nightlife game in Nusa Dua forever, and after a series of raving entertainments, including the pre-party pool session of DWPX, Manarai Beach House will continue to deliver only the best available food, drinks, and fun in the island!
