Jess Liemantara MasterChef Challenge at Raffles Jakarta
This year, star of Masterchef Australia 2018 Jess Liemantara lights up Raffles Jakarta’s special festive offering.
WINTER IS in the air, and festive feeling is abounding at Raffles Jakarta, who is enlisting the culinary skills of up-and-coming Jess Liemantara, a brilliant young talent from Indonesia who was the star of Masterchef Australia 2018. This year, Chef Jess has something different in mind where she plans to offer something for everyone in order to fully enjoy the festive experience.
“The Festive events coming up very shortly to Raffles are giving VIP guests and the public the masterchef dining experience where money can’t buy experience. Where I will be cooking live in front of guest as well as cooking up dishes that ive created on the show and after the show. There are so many exciting events coming to Raffles and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Kids will also have the chance to have fun and enjoy the Christmas festivities with activities such as cookie and cupcake decorating,” the chef explains the theme she’s planning for this upcoming holiday seasons promotion at Raffles Jakarta.
Jess will relive the valuable experience she earned during the intense Masterchef Australia competition at the special dining event at Raffles Jakarta by recreating her dishes from the competition, all of which have become her own signature dish by every right. Some of these dishes include the Vietnamese Spring Rolls, a very Indonesian dish Ikan Sambal, and Coconut Mousse with a special durian twist. There will, of course, be more exquisite dishes which will be revealed during the event.
“Vietnamese Spring Rolls was the dish that saved me a position on Masterchef, and to this day it is still one of my favourite dishes to eat and cook. These are crispy spring rolls filled with soft prawn filling served with a sweet and sour fish sauce dressing. And then there’s the Ikan Sambal, which is pan-seared red emperor or barramundi with spicy tomato sambal and pickled cucumber. I love chillies and I made my very first sambal on the show, and although it was too spicy for the judges I think us Indonesian can handle the heat,” Jess passionately explained some of her best signature dishes from the show. For dessert, one of Jess’ creations will be Coconut Mousse and durian crème, a soft coconut mousse filled with an oozy durian filling served with a refreshing hit of Mango sorbet.
