Celebrating Bali’s CULINARY SCENE
Last FEBRUARY 19, celebrities and celebrity chefs came together to honor the conclusion of a photo contest organized by Ultimate Foodies Getaway. Organized by Bali Food Safari, Ultimate Foodies Getaway is a collective culinary travel competition, rewarding top food photography winners with fabulous prizes, including return flights, luxury accommodation, and unforgettable dining experiences.
The online contest invited all culinary enthusiasts to upload their most delicious-looking and creative culinary food photographs to compete for two winning spots: Most Voted Picture and Best Picture Submission, with the former being decided by the number of votes, and the latter chosen by a panel of culinary judges through a meticulous selection process.
Ms. Vera Tjuatja won the Best Picture Submission, while Mr. Matin Barizzawere the panels’ favorite and named Most Voted Picture. From February 19 to 22, the two were treated to a jam-packed four day traveling feast to some of Bali’s most coveted culinary destinations, wine tastings and private cooking classes, rubbing shoulders with master chefs and celebrities along the way. Sponsoring the prizes were the Ministry of Tourism’s Wonderful Indonesia, Mastercard, Bali Food Safari, Hatten – Two Islands, Wyndham Tamansari JivvaResort Bali, Hotel Indigo Seminyak Beach, and Luna2.
The winners arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport on Monday, February 19, and were welcomed personally by Simon Ward and his team from Bali Food Safari, who escorted them to Luna2 where the Ultimate Foodies Gateway would officially start. The award ceremony party was held at Space Rooftop Bar with sparkling wine by Two Islands Reserve and canapés by Chef Alanna and the culinary team of Luna2. Joining the celebration were celebrity chefs Ririn Marinka, Juna Rorimpandey, Mandiff Warokka, and renowned actress Rianti Cartwright.
Following the party, the winners’ adventure began at the Hatten Wines winery for a facility orientation with Chief Winemaker James Kalleski, then to the new Cellar door professional wine masterclass and food pairing class hosted by the Hatten Sommelier, Ibu Ni Nyoman Kertawidyawati. The team then moved base camp to Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort Bali, where they shared a lovely dinner at Jivva Beach Club accompanied with traditional Balinese dance entertainment.
On the final day the group moved back to the heart of Seminyak to stay at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, where an intense kitchen cook off took place between Chef Wolff Mads, Chef Juna, joined afterwards by Chef Marinka and Chef Nicolas Lazarroni.
Regarding this online contest, Founder & Director Simon Ward remarked, “It’s truly amazing to have all these talented chefs and industry professionals come together and collaborate in creating this amazing experience. The food scene in Bali and Indonesia is absolutely world class.”
