The restaurant’s namesake is taken in accordance with the concept of the restaurant and the history and the birth of Pasar Baru, where the New Market area which became the Golden Tulip Passer Baroe location was established in 1820, and “wood” was taken to reflect its interior concept that is dominated by wooden elements. Complemented with colourful seats and The restaurant at the Golden Tulip Passer Baroe hotel that has the tagline “Playtime.Anytime.” is also combined with the choice of seats with vibrant colors.
Led by chef Bonar, a seasoned veteran in the hospitality and culinary industries, the kitchen team at Wood 1820 dishes out “a variety of Indonesian and Oriental dishes with some additional options of Western Favourites that satisfies every pallate, whether its individual guests, or the hotel’s MICE customers”, the chef explained.
Wood 1820 serves unique Indonesian dishes with a unique twist. One such dish is the signature Iga Pindang Bakar. “For this dish I was inspired by Indonesia’s wide variety of herbs and spices in taking the usual plain grilled, boiled, or fried ribs and combine it further with Javanese pindang broth as well as heavy Balinese spices.” The result is a complex ribs dish that offers multiple layers of satisfaction, perfect for those who enjoy rich and spicy treats.
Wood 1820’s latest menu rotation also includes a very interesting “Traditional Chicken Selection” available at very friendly prices.
