Kayu Kayu Restaurant: A Design Oasis
The people at Kosenda Hospitality Industry continue to offer a signature touch of warm hospitality with the opening of Kayu Kayu restaurant in the Kosenda Alam Sutera complex.
Combining the dynamism of the city and the soothing vibes of nature, Kayu Kayu is an oasis for individuals to recharge and renew their senses with the company of loved ones while enjoying smashing authentic Indonesian food.
Among the dishes on offer are Kayu Kayu’s take on nasi goreng as well as an instant classic, Sate Maranggi. A quick break can be spent digging into a plate of Rujak Buah that will jolt you with a feisty spicy sauce.
Ruben Kosenda’s years of extensive traveling is also reflected in Kayu Kayu, especially in the restaurant’s focus on sustainability. The interior of Kayu Kayu is filled with “up-cycled” furniture, where unused wood, steel and other cast-off materials have found a second lease on life.
The transformation of the furnishings came courtesy of the design duo of Santi Alaysius and Hamphrey Tedja from Domisilium Studio, who transmogrified unwanted raw materials such as wood panels into arresting wall murals that have the air of an art installation.
Complimenting the design is the striking architecture of Kayu Kayu by Joe Wilendra from W Office. The sun casts long shadows through the glass walls on lazy afternoons. The mood is boosted a the wood facade that has become the defining feature of Kayu Kayu.
Offering a laid-back demeanor, Kayu Kayu welcomes patrons from all walks of life: families bonding over dinner, undergraduates starting their day with hearty breakfast or professionals making deals during a coffee break.
Visit Kayu Kayu during the weekend and it’s obvious why the restaurant is swiftly establishing itself as an essential destination in the neighborhood of Alam Sutera, thanks to the relaxed blend of warm hospitality and down-to-earth Indonesian fare.
