Ride Along with Seven Speed Coffee

More and more coffee places are appearing in Jakarta’s neighborhoods, some seemingly out of nowhere. I’d like to take you to one of the coolest.

Seven Speed Coffee impresses you with on its concept by the time you grab the bike handle door. The shop is dedicated to the cycling and skateboarding scene. Lots of skateboard and bicycle parts are used as accessories for the interior, from the funky coffee drip station made from a skateboard, to a vintage haro BMX on the wall.

Located on Jalan Abdul Majid, just 30 meters away from the busy Jalan Pangeran Antasari main street, the shop is open 7 am to 7 pm. It is a perfect transit place for cyclists to get a good dosage of caffeine before or after their activity. Seven Speed can also be a mini escape place to take a breather, just head to the back room after you place your order and appreciate the brief secluded moment away from all your deadlines.

It is admittedly a small place with limited parking space, but customers flow continuously. Needless to say, Seven Speed is not a place to hang out long. Adjusting to that fact, they have limited the menu to only offer coffee and finger food like pastries and Seven Speed-style sandwiches.

They also cater to the coffeephile masses by providing several specialty coffee beans. The easy-going baristas will welcome you with arms wide open and gladly explain or recommend anything to your satisfaction.

It may be geared toward cyclists and skaters, but I think any visitor can make this place a perfect stopover on their rush hour trips. But maybe, just maybe, it’s a good time to clean your old bike and ride it to Seven Speed?
