I DON’T THINK you’re really on a holiday unless you sleep in and only wake up because of  the relaxing sounds of waves gently rolling over to the beach and then only get up for a lazy brunch.

Yup, in our book there’s nothing better than a tropical getaway and that’s why the idyllic fusion of lush location and exotic dishes makes the island of Bali the perfect travel destination. One of the perfect accomodations in the perfect destination is the recently opened Alila Seminyak resort on the southwest coast of Bali where the gastronomical offerings tempts from ever  going elsewhere throughout your holiday.

We love what’s in store for us at The Restaurant (a very meta name that reminds me of Gone Girl’s The Bar) courtesy of Alila Seminyak’s Executive Chef, Stefan Zijta. If your palette leans towards French then this one is for you, and fortunately the carbon footprint-conscious chef likes to mix it up with local ingredients. “My creations employ the techniques of French cuisine but adapting local, and if possible, organic ingredients here in Bali,” says Stefan. “I am a big believer in regional produce for taste, health, and environmental reasons.”

Just sitting within the interior of The Restaurant, for us, feels fulfilling enough with its gorgeous ocean views. It has a bistro-style communal tables as well as sun loungers, and the food is made in the open kitchen and adhering to chef’s Stefan “craft-over-creation” philosophy. The dishes are ingeniously authentic and fittingly flavoured for the sunny setting with our favourites includes the savoury Indonesian salad Gado-Gado and fresh Thai’s beef salad Larb Nue. They also offer an Asian Noodle Bar as well as a Grill and Rotisserie for lunch and dinner. To cap the night off, we moved to the Beach Bar where we get ourselves comfortable in the available armchairs or daybed with a glass of margarita in hand.

For brunch, every Sunday, The Restaurant offers the Sunday Graze (from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.) promo where the menus are exquisite and indulgent to say the least with a free flow of appetizers, home baked breads, pastries, and a fine selection of Western and Asian-influenced brunch dishes. The “Pay 4 Get 5” and Birthday promotions gets  you birthday guy/girl out to enjoy a nice complimentary meal seven days prior or even after your anniversary. Trust us—it’s worth it! We went for a Sunday Graze with friends and we were not disappointed with the packaged menu on offer. Check out the menus below and FYI, we went for the third option—it is the holidays!
